My Poem:

Here I have my  poem displayed which I wrote in a style that emulates that of Mark Twain. I shall also write about a subject of his time period where Mark Twain could have written about most certainl. Mark Twain had written poems in very different and divers styles this poem is aimed at emulating the poem "These Annual Bills"

Civil War

A darkness is spreading across the land.

As the sound of marching soldiers grows ever closer to me,

I realise my country is going to war.

But what O’ evil could be so bad,

That my country must fight itself I must ask.

How can people hate so bad

That they would risk the life of there own kind,

To march, the blooded barren lands.

As they near there destination our young ‘heroes’ they ask,

Why must we kill,  our own kind,

The general says, no questions just fire.

The cavalry’s released and the bullets are fired.

I once ponder, and must grimly decide

Our nation has failed our own people alas.
